Payette—The Payette girls basketball team dominated the Nampa Christian Lady Trojans Tuesday night in Payette, winning 45-27.
The Payette Pirates controlled the game for all four quarters.
In the first quarter of action the Lady Pirates jumped out to a 15-7 lead and added 12 more points in the second quarter for a 27-15 advantage at the half.
Coming out of the intermission, the Lady Pirates continued where they left off in the first half with a 10-5 run in the third quarter to extend their lead to 37-20.
In the final stanza, Payette and Nampa Christian matched each other’s output with seven points each for the final tally.
“It was a much better play for my kids today,” Payette coach Jenna Ravenscraft said. “They shot the ball a lot better. We executed some things on offense, and it was nice to see a spark out of the kids today.”
For Payette, Gwenivere King led the Lady Pirates with 10 points, while Courtney Grant added seven.
“Our previous games have prepared us to play the Trojans,” Ravenscraft said. “We have had a lot more repetitions and shooting this week and got to the free throw lines in practice. Our field goal percentages have been down really low and by cleaning that up, it helped us to win.”
With the win, the Pirates improved to 2-2 on the year, and will host New Plymouth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
