The Grizzlies marched down the field to start the second half of play, but the Shelley defense denied them a trip to the end zone as the Russets held on a fourth and four from their own 11 yard line.
Shelley's offense rewarded its defense's effort with a 89-yard drive to get the game to within two points, 14-12. Following a Fruitland punt, the Russets went back to work, and on a eight-play, 47-yard drive which ended with a two yard plunge, the Russets had their first lead of the game at 18-14. A two point conversion failed.
