Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Jim was born May 26, 1929, in Miami, Okla. He was a custom homebuilder in the Corvallis, Ore., area for over four decades before retiring to Idaho. Forever the perfectionist, Jim always maintained his critical eye for quality in all of his projects, for the benefit of his customers. Though he built many larger custom homes, his favorite designs were energy-saving, modern ranch-style houses. Jim had a love of wooden boats; his favorite was his Chris Craft Cutlass inboard that he ocean-fished out of Newport, Ore., for 30 years. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed several successful moose hunting trips to Northern Alberta, Canada. In recent years, Jim enjoyed traveling south to his home in Yuma, Ariz., where he and his wife, Jane, spent their winters. Jim is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughter, Linda (Clay) Korb, of Spokane, Wash.; his son, Steven Padgett, of Bremerton, Wash.; his stepdaughter, Connie (Phillip) McKim, of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; his stepson, Wayne Verley, of Kings Valley, Ore.; his sister, Gaye (Sonny) Selover, of Payette; his brothers, Kenneth J. (Linda) Padgett, of Nampa, Idaho, and Robert L. (Elaine) Padgett, of Payette. Jim also had five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
