Arthur Dale McDaniel, 76, Parma, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in Nampa, Idaho. Dale was born in Douglas County, Mo., April 22, 1933, the son of Arthur and Thelma McDaniel. The family moved to the Parma area when Dale was 13 years of age. He married Delora “Dee” Mae Sager Oct. 13, 1953, and together they had a daughter and son. Dale served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Dale was a people person who never met a stranger. The family never knew who he would be bringing home for a meal. He was known for his unique expressions, that no one had ever heard before. Dale worked at a lot of jobs: city policeman, laying carpet, Idaho Sand and Gravel, and he owned The Fort Boise Inn for 30 years. He was known all over the valley for his wonderful prime rib. One of Dale’s greatest pleasures was raising sheep. He had as many as 2300 head at one time. Dale loved his family. He was always there for his children and grandchildren. He is their hero! He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dee; daughter, Rhonda (John) VanZelf; son, Rory (Virginia) McDaniel; grandchildren, Rory (Beki) VanZelf, RoJon (Casey) Echevaria, Casi L. McDaniel and Cody McDaniel; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma House, Margret Ford and Mary (Barry) Neff; brothers, Ralph (Jolene) McDaniel, Ken (Julie) McDaniel and Gene McDaniel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John McDaniel; one niece; and three nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church in Parma.
