Educators to perform

ONTARIO

The Treasure Valley Swing Band, comprised of area music educators, will perform jazz favorites at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Meyer-McLean Theatre, 676 S.W. Fifth Ave., Ontario. At the door, tickets cost $25, $10 for students. For more information, call (541) 889-2844.

Downtown open house

Ontario

Seventeen stores with yellow stars in their windows will host an open house tonight and all day Saturday in downtown Ontario. A 42-inch TV can be won. The stores will be collection points for the food bank, Treats for the Troops and a new venture to send letters to troops. For more information, call (541) 889-5442.

Veterans Monument ready to view

ONTARIO

The Veterans Monument in front of Four Rivers Cultural Center, 676 S.W. Fifth Ave., Ontario, was dedicated Nov. 7. Further work, such as the sand-blasting of the emblems of each of the branches of service onto the monument, is now dependent on good weather. Larry Stitzel is in the process of creating a book with pictures detailing the progress of the monument, which will also mention people and organizations who have helped, including Graphic Impressions, B&B Printing, Calibur Graphics, Anderson Excavating, Clearwater Concrete, Joe Kinney, Horizon Machine, Schofield Design, Roadrunner Towing, Sterling Bank, the Argus Observer, KSRV “The Bull,” Engraved Expressions LLC and the workers on the shovels. The Veterans Monument Committee also wished to urge veterans who are in need of assistance attaining benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs to contact Malheur County Veterans Service Officer Bill Thomson, (541) 889-6649.

College Night planned

Ontario

There will be a College Night from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 23 at Treasure Valley Community College, Four Rivers Cultural Center, in the Malheur River Room. There will be college-planning tips. EAA meeting slated

Holiday bazaar slated

Art and craft sale

The Four County Art Guild and Friends of the Library are sponsoring their annual art and craft show and sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Vendome Events Center, 309 State St., Weiser. There will be fine arts plus 47 tables of crafts. Food will be available. Admission and entertainment is free. Church bazaar slated

Ontario

Pilgrim Lutheran Church will have its annual bazaar and chicken noodle lunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, 208 S.W. First Ave., Ontario. There will be handmade gifts, holiday decorations, quilts, baked goods and jellies for sale.

Cinnamon rolls will be served from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for $1.50, and chicken and noodles, salad, rolls and pie will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $5. Free beverages will be served all day.

Performance of ‘Annie’ on tap

“Annie” will be presented by the Music Theatre of Idaho at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 through Dec. 5 and Dec. 10 through Dec. 12, with additional 1:30 p.m. matinees on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, at the Nampa Civic Center. Benefit concert slated

Musicians from the Treasure Valley will present a benefit concert to bring in food and funds for Help Them to Hope at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Meyer McLean Theatre on the Treasure Valley Community College campus. Admission is free with canned goods, a new toy and/or a cash donation.
