Payette — Payette police are searching for a man and a woman who held up the Payette public swimming pool Thursday afternoon.
Payette Police Chief Mark Clark said the couple entered the pool and the man brandished a handgun and ordered the 18-year-old employee into a back room where money was kept. He said the female kept watch while the man took the employee to the back to get the money.
Police placed both Westside Elementary School and Payette High School on lockdown during the search for the couple.
One car was stopped near the high school with a man fitting the description of the male, but police determined he was not the suspect. Payette County also distributed a “reverse 911” call, which automatically dialed residents and businesses in the Payette area to describe the suspects and inform people to call 911 should they spot the individuals in question.
Police are looking for a man in his 30s or 40s with dark blondish hair and about 6-feet, 1-inch in height with a medium build.
He was believed to have been wearing a gray sweatshirt with blue jeans.
The female suspect had a piercing in her nose and was wearing a blue or black sweatshirt with white writing on the front and blue jeans.
Police said the suspects were believed to be in a white sports utility vehicle with chrome wheels.
