Mabel Kohtz, 96, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. Services and burial were Oct. 9, 2009, at the New Tacoma Cemetery, Tacoma, Wash. Mabel was born May 31, 1913, in Wauneta, Neb. She was married to her late husband, Herman Kohtz, for 50 years. They farmed in New Plymouth for 40 years. In 1989, Mabel moved to Idaho Falls and later to Washington State to be near family. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Plymouth. Mabel worked 15 years for Ore-Ida. She volunteered for the Lutheran Braille Workers while a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Idaho Falls. Mabel was a loving, generous woman, capable of bringing a smile to the faces of all she met. Her family and friends were very important to her.

Her hobbies included cooking, flower gardening, crocheting and loving her children and grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Kohtz; her parents, Nellie and Charles Raichart; and her two brothers, Everett and Burdette Raichart. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Lee) Glass, of Puyallup, Wash., and Karen (Kenneth) Schuster, of Yakima, Wash.; sister, Irma Wrenn, of Tacoma; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kim Walters, LeAnn (Aaron) Purtzer and Iris, Becky (Aaron) Krantz, Hannah and Isaac, Zachary (Sally) Schuster and Liam; and many nieces and nephews. We will miss her deeply, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
