Ontairo —The Treasure Valley Community College soccer teams hosted Walla Walla Community College in a Northwest Athletic Association of Community College’s East Region soccer match up and came away with back-to-back losses.
The women lost the opening game 1-0, and the men lost its game 2-0.
The TVCC women’s soccer team played tough against the No. 1 ranked Walla Walla team, however, the loss put the pressure on the Lady Chukars who will have to win their final game of the season this Saturday at Yakima, but will also need for Spokane to lose or tie its game, if the women want to compete in the NWAACC tournament, which begins Wednesday.
Against Walla Walla Jennie Rasmussen, Lynnae Huber, Brogan McFadden, Sarah Weitz and goal keeper Abby Hutson were the key players for TVCC according to head coach Ryan Masingill.
“In soccer it’s not always about stats in a game. Other things determine the flow and momentum of the game, like leadership and hustle.” Masingill said. “Walla Walla was very creative with their moves. We just were not creative enough to keep up with them.”

In the men’s game, the Chukars failed to answer two first half goals by Walla Walla, despite having some momentum late in the game.
“They (Walla Walla) picked up the momentum early in the game and scored twice on us,” Masingill said. “But when we had the momentum, we did nothing with it.”
The loss knocked the Chukars into a battle for the second seed in the East region with Columbia Basin, and can do nothing about it but wait and watch.
Columbia Basin will take on Spokane Saturday.
If Spokane wins, then the Chukars will be the No. 2 seed in the NWAACC tournament. If Columbia Basin wins, then TVCC will be the three seed.
As the two seed, the Chukars would host Pierce College, as the No. 3 seed and TVCC would travel to Clark Community College.
The NWAACC tournament begins Wednesday.
“Either way, it does not matter to us,” Masingill said. “Acutally, we have been a better road team this year, so the No. 3 seed would not be a bad spot to be.”
TVCC defeated Pierce in its final game of the season last year, and has not faced them in 2009, and a match up against Clark, would be an epic battle as Clark is ranked No. 2 in the NWAACC and TVCC is ranked No. 3.
