The Ontario community has stepped up to help the downtrodden in so many different ways during the past year it would be difficult to choose a premier example of giving.
From Help Them To Hope to food drives, area residents are not shy about stepping up to help out.
That should be more than just a little gratifying. The sentiment such actions send reverberate far and wide and truly make this a great community and a great place to live.
Unfortunately, the need never seems to cease.
A good case in point is Ontario’s Love INC. The non-profit program that helps many is in a peculiar situation. Not only has the public stepped up to help the organization, it has went above and beyond.
According to Director Kim Wilson, Love INC has so many donations — including clothes and furniture — it is out of room. The organization can no longer take any more donations because there is no place to put those items.
Like many charitable organizations locally, Love INC needs a place to store its entire product.
The small facility it utilizes now is simply unsuitable — in terms of space — for the volume of items the program receives.
Complicating the issue is the fact Love INC is a non-profit, which means it does not have large sums of cash to use to purchase or rent warehouse space.
It is an ironic situation. On one hand, the community has jumped to this challenge of helping out this organization. On the other hand, there is not enough room for all of the donations.
If you want to help, or can help, give Love INC a call at (541) 889-7860, ext. 6.
Love INC is not the only organization that will need more assistance.
Help Them To Hope is on the verge of starting its Christmas charity campaign, and the Ontario Food Bank always needs more products.
All of these organizations are great assets to our community. They are ready-made vehicles that help people from diverse backgrounds.
Ontario has shown that, as a community, it can step up and provide help to those who need it.
Giving back to the community has never been easier or more important than now.
