Evan W. Chaffin died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. He went to be with the love of his life, Florence Louise Chaffin, who preceded him in death April 4, 2009. Evan was born Sept. 16, 1914, to Edwin and Sarah Jane Chaffin in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended schools in Rose, Indian Cove, Star and Donnelly, Idaho. He joined the CCC and served from June 1933 through April 1934. Evan then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served from November 1941 to September 1945. He was with the 324th Bombardment Squadron. Evan married Louise Aug. 1, 1946. They lived in Boise and raised four children. Evan then served in the U.S. Army Reserves with the 321st Engineering Battalion from 1954 through 1974. He then retired as a master sergeant. Evan spent his early years bird hunting and fishing. He filled his working hours with various jobs, retiring from Standard Oil Company in 1978 after 32 years. He and Louise spent their retirement traveling, fishing and visiting friends. They truly were a match made in heaven. Evan also loved to bowl and spent many hours at Westy’s. Evan is survived by Pete and Sharon Chaffin, of Ontario, Lora and Stan Bate, of Boise, and Bruce Chaffin, of Boise. Evan was a wonderful husband, beloved father and grandfather and a true friend. He will be truly missed. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Cloverdale Cemetery, Boise. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel,
