Ontario one game closer to claiming GOL title and first-round playoff bye
All three SRV teams advance

Ontario -The No. 8 ranked Ontario Tiger football team took another step closer to regaining the Greater Oregon League title with a 28-20 win over the No. 5 ranked Baker Bulldogs Friday in Ontario.
Ontario staked a 14-0 lead at the break, then extended that lead to 21-0 mid-way through the third quarter.
Baker finally hit the scoreboard with nine second remaining the third to bring the score to 21-6. Ontario scored its final touchdown of the game at the 6:39 mark of the fourth quarter to make the score 28-6, then Baker decided to give the comeback run a shot by scoring twice in the final six minutes of play, but ran out of time to complete the comeback.
With the win the Tigers improved to 7-1 overall and to 2-0 in the GOL, while Baker suffered its first loss of the season and sits at 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the GOL. Ontario will claim the league title with a win at Mac-Hi next Friday. Baker will take on La Grande for the No. 2 seed in the GOL
In Idaho, the 3A state tournament kicked off with all three of the Snake River Valley Conference teams winning and moving on to the next round of action.
Fruitland defeated Wendell 54-6, Payette pilfered Kimberly 36-3 and Weiser ended Buhl's season with a 28-7 win.
In other acttion, Nyssa was defeated by Burns 40-21 and Vale took care of business against Riverside 48-0.
