William “Bill” Edward Doty, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, of natural causes in Caldwell. Bill was born March 31, 1926, in Adrian to Charles “Tex” Henry Doty and Irene Esther Hunt Doty. He attended grade school in Roswell, Idaho, and Adrian and high school in Adrian. He joined the United States Army in 1944 and fought in the Philippines as an airborne trooper in World War II. From 1948 to 1959, Bill worked construction building damns in California and Washington. He met and married LaVonne Adams in 1948. They had four children, Henry, Patricia, Bobby and Rebecca. The family lived in Nampa until 1964 when they moved to Caldwell. Bill worked as a well driller from 1959 to 1988. He started his own well drilling business in 1963, Bill Doty Well Drilling and Pump, and continued the business until 1988 when he retired. During retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Bill was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the National Rifle Association. Bill is survived by his very dear friend, Myrtle French, of Star, Idaho; his stepson, Edward Doty Pomerankski and wife, Esther, of Caldwell; his son, Henry Doty and wife, Adele, of Las Vegas; his daughter, Patricia Doty, of New Mexico; his daughter, Rebecca Miller and husband, Harvey, of Caldwell; his son, Bob Doty and wife, Linda, of Nampa; his sister, Winifred Kygar, of Adrian; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Charles (Junior) E. Doty, Jesse Doty, George Doty and infant twins; sister, Lucille Doty Steiner; his son-in-law, Wes Florom; and grandsons, Bobby Doty Jr., Tex Miller and Ben Clemens.Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Nyssa Lienkaemper Chapel. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hilltop Cemetery, Nyssa, Ore. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
