Donald Harmon Olp, 77, Fruitland, quietly passed away at home, Friday, Oct. 16 2009, with his children by his side. Donald was born April 4, 1932, in Prairie City, Ore. where he grew up. In 1950, he graduated from Prairie City High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. In 1960, Don married Melba Sue Petross. They were married for 48 years. During his life, Don worked very hard to support his family. He labored at various jobs while traveling throughout the United States. One of his favorite jobs was at Boeing Airlines where he worked for four years. In 1978 Donald started working for Alaska Airlines as a ramp service agent in Fairbanks, Alaska, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and Seattle, Wash. After retiring from Alaska Airlines in 1997, Don took a job in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, as an employee at a private grocery store for an additional two years. Donald was a kind and caring man who loved to talk to people and tell stories. His family and friends loved him very much, and he will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his son, Donald K. Olp; his daughters, Pamela (Olp) Butler, Tashia (Olp) Bowen; his brother, Judd Olp; his sisters, Wanda (Olp) Madsen and Arlene (Olp) Bailey; his granddaughters, Hollyanna Warren, Bethany Harrington and Alexandra Angles; his great-grandchildren, Star Warren, Hyde Walker, Eli Warren and Rouxas Trumbull. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Melba (Petross) Olp; parents, Julius and Hilda (Davis) Olp; sister, Joann (Olp) Kaneaster; and twin grandsons, Benjamin and Seth Harrington. Memorial services are scheduled for today, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette.
