Andrea Villegas Jaramillo, 77, Ontario, died peacefully Fridaym Oct. 16, 2009, in Portland, Ore., in the presence of her family. A recitation of the Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Ontario. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Blessed Sacrament Church. Andrea was born Feb. 29, 1932, to Cristobal and Cruz Molina Villegas in Malakoff, Texas, where her father worked as a coal miner. After the mines closed, her parents relocated in 1938 to Laredo, Texas, and again to Madera, Calif., in 1943 to pursue work. In March 1949, her family moved briefly to Harper, to perform seasonal work for Jaramillo Farms. It was there that she met John, the owner’s eldest son and her eventual husband of over 55 years. The couple married in February 1954 and settled near Ontario to raise their family. In 1967, Andrea and John opened Casa Jaramillo Restaurant which continues to operate in Ontario to this day. Her greatest accomplishment was that of a caring and nurturing mother who instilled in her kids a determined work ethic. She was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church where she and John contributed regularly to events and causes, including St. Peter Catholic School. In later years, she enjoyed crafts, gardening and occasional travel. But she most enjoyed lengthy conversations with her family. Her spiritual strength meant she prayed and felt deeply for others in need, despite her own ailments. Andrea is survived by her loving husband, John Jaramillo, of Ontario; children, John Jaramillo Jr. and wife, Clare, of Tualatin, Ore., Diana Llona and husband, Thomas, of Portland, Ore., Ron Jaramillo and wife, Lucia, of Ontario, Yolanda Kinion and husband, Michael, of Hillsboro, Ore., Ricardo Jaramillo, of Tigard, Ore., Cindy Balderas and husband, Gustavo, of Portland, Ore., Christopher Jaramillo and wife, Lisa, of Independence; 11 grandchildren; and her sister, Reynalda Ybarra, of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Anastacio Villegas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make charitable contributions to either Pathway Hospice or the American Cancer Society in care of Lienkaemper Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Ontario, OR 97914.
