HOMEDALE — The Fruitland girls volleyball team wrapped up its regular season tired but undefeated in Snake River Valley Conference play following a sweep over Homedale Tuesday night.
Fruitland easily claimed the first and third games, 25-12 each, and only struggled in the second, which the Grizzlies eventually won 25-23.
Hailey Felgenhauer led with 12 kills and Jarica Martarano and Chelsea McGinley each contributed nine in the win. Sarah McGinley posted 31 assists and seven digs, while Ambrea Cuellar also had seven assists, as well.
“Homedale is a scrappy team, and they took advantage of us in that second game.” Fruitland coach Rena Sitz said, adding the Grizzlies’ communication broke down in the game, and they struggled offensively and defensively before recovering in the final game.
Still, the Grizzlies (8-0 SRV, 11-1 overall) will have a few days off to work to practice before they take the court again in the district tournament on Tuesday.
“The thing about districts is everybody’s going to be prepared,” Sitz said.
