Arlene Elizabeth (Anderson) Strawn, 60, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 1, 2009, after a short, hard battle with cancer, with her family at her side.
Arlene was born on Nov. 3, 1948, in Payette, Idaho, the youngest of eight children born to George “Frank” and Iva Anderson. She attended schools in Cambridge and Council, Idaho. and graduated from Weiser, Idaho, High School.
Arlene married Brian Strawn on March 23, 1968, in Fruitland, Idaho, and lived in Ontario, Ore., until mid-1981 when they moved to Lakeview, Ore., where she resided the remainder of her years.
Arlene was a loving wife and mother. She was a great friend to all who knew her, with her outgoing personality and great sense of humor. Arlene’s impact on our lives cannot be described in mere words.
Arlene’s favorite pastimes were being with her family, enjoying the outdoors, doing things like camping, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, taking rides in the mountains and attending to her yard and flowers. Harassing family and friends was also right at the top of her list of favorites.
Arlene was preceded in death by her mother, Iva Anderson, and father, Frank Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Brian C. Strawn, of Lakeview; son, Daniel L. Strawn, of Vale, Ore.; daughter, Shawnie B. Asher, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; siblings and spouses, Donald and Delores Anderson, Larry and Irene Anderson, Darrel and Wilma Anderson, Aubrey “Bud” and Angie Anderson, Audry “Biddy” Hatten, Dorothy “Tootsie” and Joe Stoneman and Arthur “Pete” Anderson; four grandsons, three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and wives, Gary and Edith Strawn and Dean and Sandi Strawn; her “Ag & Auto” family; and many, many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the wonderful life of Arlene Elizabeth Strawn will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Lakeview, Ore., with a potluck following in the church hall.
Memorial contributions may be made in Arlene’s name at Sterling Savings Bank, 1 South E St., Lakeview OR 97630; Lakeview Home Health and Hospice, 700 South J St., Lakeview OR 97630 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
