Margaret G. Gallegos
Nov. 23, 1919-Sept. 26, 2009

Nyssa

Margaret G. Gallegos, longtime resident of Nyssa, Ore., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009.

Margaret was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Mesilla, N.M.

She married Gilbert J. Gallegos in El Paso, Texas, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss Army Base.

They moved to Nyssa in 1952, where they raised their 12 children.

Margaret was very devoted to her many children and any that she collected along the way. She could be found anytime of the day in her yard, moving her rocks and anything that wasn’t cemented down. Margaret was also a very dedicated and proud “Military Wife.”

She was a member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Louise Guerra, Ruth Castro, Gilbert Gallegos Jr., Linda Aman, Sandra Artiach and Bridget Martinez, of Nyssa, Margaret Miller, Payette, Idaho, Sharon Nelson, Forest Grove, Ore., Donna G. Gamboa, Beaverton, Ore., Monica Ure, Caldwell, Idaho, and Rachel Cornett, Ontario; nieces, Delores Gomeza and Patsy Gomeza, of Nyssa; two sisters, Maria Lucero and Paulina Carillo, of New Mexico; and sister-in-law, Pat Connell, of Fruitland; 37 grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, daughter, Elvy Madrid, a grandson and granddaughter.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, and funeral Mass will be  at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009. Both services will be held at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Nyssa, under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel.

Our family would like to extend our most heartfelt gratitude to the care given to our mother and grandmother during her stay at Ashley Manor Care Facility in Ontario.  They too became her family. To the nurses and staff of Holy Rosary Medical Center, a deep appreciation for their kindness and loving care during our difficult time.

Condolences to the family can be sent to www.lienkaemper-thomason.com.
