Overtime thriller in Payette
Weiser holds on for win

Payette- In thrilling fashion the Snake River Valley Conference kick off with a classic hard-nosed battle in Payette Friday between the Weiser Wolverines and the Payette Pirates.

Four quarters were not enought to decide this war, and at the end of regulation the game was knotted at 20.

In the overtime session, Payette wasted no time and scored on its first play from scrimmage to go up 26-20, but Weiser still had its turn at punching the ball into the end zone. And they did on its second play from scrimmage, making the score 26-26.

SInce Payette failed on its two point conversion, all Weiser needed was extra point kick and they got it for the 27-26 win.

Fruitland 47, McCalll 27

Parma 50, Melba 6

New Plymouth 51, Marsing 6

" this is to FootballFan, yes the boys did play good in the 2ND half against Weiser. and the reason payette havent been kicking extra points isnt all because of just the kicker, if you have been to and watched the game actually besides doing other stuff, payette's line has to get some blame on the extra points. i think we have had more extra points blocked rather than just missed. And thats the end of that. But dont blame Coach Gleave for the loss to Weiser. I dont get why everyone always blames the coach for a loss. I dont think the Coach is the one on the field playing in the game. I'm pretty sure the coach sits on the sidelines with his headset and gives his quarterback or linebacker or whoevers on the field the play. its the players fault for not executing the play that was called, sometimes its not even the players fault, sometimes the other team just has a good game plan to shut every play of yours down. GOOD GAME PAYETTE IN THE 2nd HALF OF THE GAME. IF YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE HAD PLAYED LIKE THAT IN THE 1ST, IT WOULDNT HAVE EVEN BEEN A GAME. GO PIRATES, BLACK THUNDER!!!!!!! "

" It was a good game the Payette boys did good, the coach is to blame for the loss. Declining a penalty that would have got the pirates the ball and to go for the 2pt conversions the whole game, kick the dam ball you would've won if the coach would of let someone kick it maybe Blackwell could of made it should of gave him a chance cause the 2pt conversions weren't working "

" I think Payette needs to acknowledge the success of their coach, who is clearly turning their program around. It's funny in these small towns, the effect that can have, not just on the team, not just on the high school, but on the attitude of the whole population. It's time Payette felt like a winner for a change. "

" Hey "WTF" ... where are your manners? Name calling makes you the @ss ... not Scott. And how 'bout you buck up and use your real name when throwing mud. It's pretty easy to hide behind an ignorant acronym like "WTF" ... Why don't you grow a pair and get on with your life? "

" Where are the Oregon scores, Scott????!!!!!

Too busy kissing up to the Idaho schools. You wrote this article at about 11:00 and didn't even mention that the Ontario game had ended already.

Great reporting, Donkey!!!! "
