Joyce Hiroko Ishida
Sept. 6, 1943 - Sept. 13, 2009

Seattle

On Sept. 6, 1943, Joyce was born in Minidoka, Idaho (Japanese American internment camp), the youngest of six children born to the late Shigeko and Kiyomi Matsubu. Joyce was raised in Fruitland, Idaho, working on the family farm, and graduated from Fruitland High School in 1961. For 22 years, Joyce worked at Children’s Hospital in Seattle as a dietary administrator. Joyce was a longtime Seattle-area resident and, after a courageous 30-year battle with lupus and 17-year fight with kidney failure, passed away from heart complications with her family at her side. Joyce was the beloved wife of Jack Ishida for over 44 years. Joyce will forever be remembered by her cherished children, Jason, Jennifer, Martie and Kirk, and dearest grandchildren, John, Kelly, Zosia, Grant, Anya, Kevin and Kiyomi. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Evergreen Washelli Chapel with reception following.
