Ontario man faces charges

FRUITLAND — An Ontario man faces charges of aggravated DUI, open container and failure to purchase a drivers license after a two-vehicle head-on crash Sunday night on Interstate 84 at mile post 7 in Payette County.

According to an Idaho State Police report, Pedro Hernandez, 35, Ontario, was driving his car eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate, when he sideswiped a pickup driving by Emily Bowers, 19, Payette. Hernandez’s passenger, Martin Espinoza-Torres, 42, Ontario, was transported to Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario with unspecified injuries. All three people were wearing seatbelts. There was no information how far Hernandez had traveled in the wrong lanes.

Hernandez was lodged in the Payette County Jail, and the incident is still under investigation.

" The point of my comment was to clarify a point in the article: 'There was no information how far Hernandez had traveled in the wrong lanes.' I meant--and gave--no criticism of the police. As for my grammatical mistake, it was just that, a mistake. "

" Adam, its traveling not traveled. If you called when he was at exit three and he traveled three more miles before the crash, what is your point??? Police should have been sitting out there waiting for this type of call??? "

" The man had been traveled into opposing traffic for at least three miles. I informed Payette County Dispach of the man when I encountered him that night at exit three. "
