Payette—The Payette boys soccer team pressure the Homedale defense and peppered its goalkeeper to the tune of 39 shots in a 11-1 blowout victory Wednesday in Snake River Valley Conference boys soccer action at Harmon Killebrew Field in Payette.
Joseph Bolin netted four goals, Pepe Hernandez added a hat trick and four others netted goals in the dominant performance in front of the home folks.
While acknowledging that the Pirate team, which lost 12 seniors to graduation, has plenty they can improve upon, he praised them for a job well done.
“We possessed the ball well, and passed well,” Payette head varsity boys soccer coach Shaun Bolin said. “We kept the ball on the ground and played the feet, and settled the ball. We also shot well.”
Payette goalkeeper Austin Waynetska had a hand in the win, as he stopped five Trojan shots. Coach Bolin was proud of his stellar effort.
“Austin (Waynetska, the keeper) had some very nice saves in this game,” coach Bolin added. “Again, the defense did a great job, too.”
Along with efforts of Bolin and Hernandez, Santiago Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, Evan Hershey and Eduardo Cisneros had a goal scored apiece.
Kenny Kessler and Bolin tallied two assists each, Jose Hernandez had one and Hershey added another.
Payette (2-0 overall, 1-0 SRV) continues conference play next Tuesday at Weiser.

Basic grammar seems to escape the Argus Observer sports staff. They are not the Payette Pirate, they are the Payette Pirates. Hence it should have been ... "Bolin scores four goals, Pepe Hernandez adds hat trick in Pirates' 11-1 victory"
And Ray Rodriguez is going to be a sports editor somewhere...unbelievable. "
