The Country Curmudgeon: Another sneak attack

The gun-grabbers are at it again, friends. Frustrated by the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent narrow decision upholding the Second Amendment right of private citizens to “keep and bear arms,” these insidious sneaks are again attacking by stealth: trying to phase gun owners out of existence by regulation. They’ve tried this before by trying to exorbitantly tax hunting cartridges and regulate even common .22 rimfire ammunition as “contaminating the environment.” Thus far, such attempts have been unsuccessful, but they never give up.
House Resolution 45, introduced by Obama crony Bobby Rush (D–Illinois), predicates making it illegal to own almost any firearm unless (1.) it is registered; (2.) the owner is fingerprinted; (3.) the owner produces a current driver’s license and Social Security number (to know exactly where to find you); (4.) owners must submit to arbitrary physical and mental evaluations by government shrinks; (5.) any change of ownership (even a family gift) must be reported and costs $25; and (6.) guns must be locked (making them useless for home defense) and inaccessible to children under 18 (so much for youthful hunters).
Under this measure, the government would have the right to invade your home at any time without probable cause or a search warrant to “inspect” your private facilities. Violation of any of the above provisions could land you a five-year felony conviction and the permanent loss of ownership rights. (See
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h45/text).
This is just another underhanded attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court’s recent decision. New Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is already on record as saying this ruling does not apply to individual states. That means some yahoo government like New York could deprive their whole state of their Second Amendment rights.
This is typical of these liberal skunks: trying to sneak through such repressive legislation before anyone realizes what they’re actually up to.
The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance and being aggressive in defense of our liberties, friends. George Washington once said, “Guns are the dragons’ teeth of freedom,” meaning an armed and crabby civilian population is the only thing standing between us and tyranny. Those who would reduce us to socialist servility know this well.
If you don’t own guns or even if you don’t like them, beware. Write to our congressmen.
Better yet, join a recognized pro-gun group, hunters’ association, local gun club or national organization like the NRA and be generous to their political action funds.
As Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

There's no hidden or implied meaning in this amendment. We have the right to bear arms...period. "
