Nina Lerene (Ofe) Patterson
Sept. 12, 1934 - Aug. 14, 2009

Nina Lerene (Ofe) Patterson passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Mountain View Living Center in Madras at the age of 92.

Nina was born in Oakdale, Neb., on Jan. 25, 1917, to Ross Aaron and Martha (Hansen) Ofe. She attended grades 1 through 8 at the country school in Dawes County, Nebraska. She then attended two years of high school in Chradron, Neb. On Sept. 12, 1934, Nina married Leonard Raymond Patterson in Scotts Bluff, Neb. The couple moved from Nebraska to Nevada in 1941 and then on to the Jordan Valley, Ore., area where they purchased their own property in Arock, Ore.

In December of 1961, Leonard was killed in a car accident. Nina stayed on the ranch until 1967, when she moved to Jordan Valley and worked at Telleria’s Market.

In 1970, Nina moved to Madras, where she went to work for the Jefferson County School District as a custodian for Madras Elementary. She worked there for many loyal years until her retirement. Nina spent many hours in service to her church and family. She enjoyed gardening, quilt top making and sewing. She loved to be with her grandchildren.

Nina was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Madras.

Nina is survived by her sons, Robert “Bob” Patterson, of Springfield, Ore., Gerald “Jerry” Patterson, of Madras, Ore., and Lowell Patterson, of Prineville, Ore.; daughter, Elaine White, of Donelby, Idaho; sisters, Francis Connell, Jeanelle Grant and Verna Tuma, all of Nebraska; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lucille; brother, Harold; and a great-granddaughter.

Public visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, and Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel in Madras, Ore. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, Idaho.
