ONTARIO — Two men were stabbed early Sunday morning during a fight that broke out at a party in Ontario.
One of the men was transported to Boise for treatment of his injuries Ontario Police Capt. Mark Alexander, said Monday morning.
The incident occurred at 4:45 a.m. in the 600 block of Skyhawk Drive,
Alexander said a 24-year-old male, from Vale, was taken to Holy Rosary Medical center by private vehicle, and then was flown by LifeFlight to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, having sustained life-threatening injuries.
The other man was treated at Holy Rosary Medical Center.
“A 26-year-old male, Ontario, sustained multiple stab wounds and was transported to Holy Rosary with non life-threatening injuries,” Alexander said.
A 17-year-old received a broken nose.
The incident is still under investigation, Alexander said. The party also involved under-age young people and alcohol, Alexander said.
“We take that very seriously,” he added, but is asking anyone who may have been a witness to the stabbings to call and give a statement to police. They could do so without fear being in trouble, he said. Ontario police were busy over the weekend, investigating a series of related thefts from vehicles in the same neighborhood and looking into a reported rape and other assaults.
A 15-year-old male, reported as runaway, was arrested in the area of Alameda Drive and 8th Avenue, Friday morning and was rearrested later in the day after several reports were turned in about thefts from vehicles situated in the same area where the youth was detained.
The thefts included small change, electronic equipment and a firearm, Alexander said.
“The firearm has not been recovered,” Alexander said, Monday.
The youth was charged with theft in the first degree, theft in the second degree and 14 counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. He was released to his parents.
Saturday evening an Ontario man and two juveniles were arrested following an assault on a resident in the Idle Wheels mobile home court on Ontario’s east side.
The incident took place inside the victim’s home and a 25 year-old male, sustained injuries to his face, Alexander said. William Marshall, 46, Ontario, and the two juveniles, age 16 and 17, were charged with burglary in the first degree and second-degree assault. Since there are two or more people allegedly involved in the incident, under Oregon law it is a Measure 11 offense and all three were taken to the Malheur County jail, Alexander said.
He said police are also investigating a reported sexual assault of 14 year-old female early Sunday in northwest Ontario and are looking for two suspects.
