Lorraine Barker
Jan. 29, 1939 - July 15, 2009

Fruitland

Lorraine Barker, age 70, of Fruitland, celebrated her first day in heaven Wednesday, July 15, 2009. She was lovingly surrounded by her caring family. A viewing for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A service of tribute honoring Lorraine will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at the Payette Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.

Condolences may be made to the family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.

Lorraine was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Mound Valley, Kan., to A.C. and Gladys Turner. Her family moved from Kansas to Idaho when Lorraine was 7 years old. She married Ralph Barker on Nov. 22, 1957. They lived and raised their three children in Fruitland these past 52 years.

Lorraine grew up as a pastor’s daughter and, in her adult life, gave 52 faithful years as a member of Payette Church of the Nazarene. She retired in 2004 after 26 years at the Department of Labor in Payette. She was a devoted wife to her husband, a dedicated homemaker and mother to her children and grandchildren and was always a faithful prayer warrior and committed servant of God.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Ralph; two sons, Kevin Barker and Marty Barker and wife, Melanie; a daughter, Carma McGehee, and husband, Rod; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ron Turner; a sister, Genevieve Robinson; and an abundance of loving family and friends.

Those who have gone on before her were her parents; a baby granddaughter, Colleen; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy.

The family wishes to express our overwhelming gratitude to all those at Heart ’n Home Hospice of Fruitland for the compassionate care to Mom and her family these past months. We are humbled by the blessing you have been to each of us and especially to Mom.

Memorials may be made to the Payette Church of the Nazarene or Fruitland Heart ’n Home Hospice, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
