Ontario’s Jake Turner to represent Tigers in Shrine East-West game

Ontario graduate Jake Turner has been selected to play in the 2009 Shrine East-West All-star game which will take place on Aug. 1 in Baker City. Turner has also committed to Willamette University in Salem, where he received an academic scholarship . He will also play football and baseball. |
Ontario—Ontario’s Jake Turner is not quite finished playing high school football, and on Aug. 1, he will compete in the 2009 Shrine East-West all-star game in Baker City.
Turner, played in his final game for the Ontario Tigers in a 28-14 loss to the Central Panthers Nov. 15 of last year. In that game, Turner had four carries for 44 yards and three catches for 16 yards. For the season, the tailback rushed for 892 yards, averaging 9.29 per carry, and picked up another 424 yards receiving on 27 catches, which tallied into 15.7 yards per catch.
However, offense was not the only thing Turner did, he also played some solid defense for Ontario.
Turner led the team in several defensive categories with 94 tackles, 11 sacks and the five interceptions.
Being selected to compete in the Shrine All-star game Turner said it was awesome.
