ONTARIO — The Ontario library has a new name.
With the changing of the leadership guard from the City of Ontario to the Ontario Library District, the name of the facility also had to be changed, and Wednesday afternoon, with much fanfare and celebration, the library was rechristened the Ontario Community Library at a library open house.
The Ontario Library District Board of Directors selected the new appellation from many submitted by local school children who participated in a contest. The board voted on the name and then, at Wednesday’s festivities, they announced the library’s new designation, as well as the winners of the contest — brothers Mike and Jake Jones.
“There were some really cute names,” Ontario Library District Board of Directors Chairperson Donnaclaire Blankinship said.
In the end, Ontario Community Library was selected because board members agreed it best reflected what the library is to the area.
