Malheur County’s per capita personal income in 2007 was the lowest of a six-county, Eastern Oregon region and in the state, but one area economist said statistics can sway from one end of the economic pendulum to the other quickly.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis showed that, for 2007 Malheur County’s per capita personal income was $21,733.

Jason Yohannan, a state economist for the region, said in his monthly Eastern Oregon Labor Trends report the per capita personal income in Eastern Oregon can totter conspicuously from one year to the next because of fluctuations in farm income.

Gee I wonder why. Look around, all I see is people standing by their mailboxes waiting for a welfare check to arrive. Maybe if everyone got off their butts and actually tried this wouldn't be the case.

I see weeds all across a neighbors field, which are only going to reduce the quality and yield of his crops. Pulling these weeds could literally make him a few thousand more dollars....is anyone willing to go out there for a couple days just to make a few hundred bucks?

No, you aren't, because a few hundred bucks doesn't pay the bills for all the crap you bought that you can't afford, and you are making more sitting on your butt doing nothing collecting aide or being on some "program" while the rest of us are going flat out working non stop to pick up the tab, all so you don't lose that fancy house, car and boat that you had no business buying in the first place.

Creative financing, taking loans for vacations and recreational toys...when did everyone get so greedy?

Maybe I'm the stupid one, maybe I should be sitting on my butt collecting welfare and laughing at the fools who work for a living.

Maybe I am stupid, but I have more self-worth than to stoop to the level of waiting for someone else to bail me out.

If my grandfather was still alive, and you asked him what would of happened to him in his early years,(back when this country was something, people were proud to live here and they sacrificed their own lives to protect it) if he would of just sat around like a no good lazy bum and waited for a free hand out. He would of said that he would of died waiting.

Why? Because people made their own back then, and when someone needed help, EVERYONE came to their aide because everyone knew that even though they worked hard, sometimes you just can't win.

Well the problem I have, is very few people work hard these days, so why would anyone want to help eachother when no one wants to even help themselves?

If you are fat because you over eat and are lazy, then disability isn't something you should get, you should die fat and miserable because it's no one's fault but your own.

This is why this area is what it is...because laziness seems to migrate here. "
