Search warrant leads to key arrest

Payette — The Payette Police Department arrested a Payette man on drug-related charges Wednesday afternoon, but details behind the arrest are few at this time.

Payette police, along with the Payette County Special Response Team — comprising Payette County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Payette and Fruitland police officers, served a search warrant at an apartment at 643 South 12th St. and arrested Jose Luis Morales, 32, Payette. Morales was charged with delivery of a controlled substance. Morales is currently lodged in the Payette County Jail. Beyond that, however, Payette Capt. Dave Platt said police could not give out any other information behind the arrest, such as what they found at the apartment or what led to the search warrant, because the case is still under investigation.

“There is possibility that more arrests could come at a later time,” Platt said, adding the investigation could be extended. “This is something, if the information was given out, it would jeapordize the investigation.”

" I just wanted to say that the payette county found nothing in the apartmentor the other person that lived there would also be aressted too,and further more they disrupted the family and caused hardship to the other person that lived in that household. "

" I sure hope this is Meth or something important that is actually causing harm to the community, because if this is another Marijuana bust I am going to scream. Sick and tired of the wasted tax dollars and wasted officer time spent chasing a virtually harmless plant when dangerous people are lurking our streets that we need to be rid of...not some plant, lol.

Whats funny though is they say they didn't want to give out any more information because they didn't want to jeapordize the ivestigation, but yet they gave out the address where the warrant was served, and the name of the person they arrested.

Gee, I wonder if the people they are looking for can read, because if they can, they probably are long gone now, lol.

My guess, is they didn't want to say "Marijuana" and have to hear it right away from the community about wasting time and money on something that should be legal. "

" Good job Platt! The media in its fenzy to sell news has weakened law enforcements duty to remain silent on pending investigations. I am proud of you for taking such a stand. Now, if we could just get your boss to do the same! "
