Nyssa Nite Rodeo slated

NYSSA—Local rodeo action gallops into the area this weekend when the Nyssa Nite Rodeo opens at the Oregon Trail Arena at Nyssa.

There will be two full nights of competition — at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday — with mutton bustin scheduled before each performance.

Also, there will be junior bull riding during the rodeo and the always-popular buffalo ride.

This year’s stock contractor is King Livestock, Homedale, and the announcer will be Mick Hessler, Weiser.

The buffalo ride, which will be held both nights, is open to contestants 18 years and older, and there is an entry fee of $50. The Junior bulls event is open to those ages 8 to 15, with an entry fee of $15.

There is an entry fee of $5 for mutton busting, which is open to those children ages 7 years and younger.

The number to call to sign-up for special events is (208) 989-7296.

Admission to the rodeo is $7 for adults,  $4 for children ages 5 to 12 and children 4 and younger are free.

Family admission both Friday and Saturday is $15. Saturday’s rodeo parade is at 6 p.m. and will start from South Second Street and head west on Main Street and go to the rodeo grounds.

The queen for the Nyssa rodeo is Sharen Stowe.
