Hershey track and field meet scheduled

Ontario Parks and Recreation Department announces the Hershey Track and Field Meets Saturday and June 6. Track meets will be held at the Ontario High School track starting at 9 a.m. each day. Children ages 1 through 14 are eligible to compete both days. Children ages 9 through 14 as of Dec. 31, 2009, can compete on June 6, and have the opportunity to advance to the Oregon State Hershey meet in Eugene, on July 11. NFL flag football registration has begun

The Ontario Parks and Recreation Department is now taking registration for NFL Flag Football. Boys and girls going into grades kindergarten through eighth as of fall of 2009 are eligible to participate. The cost is $40, and this includes an NFL Jersey the players can keep. Lifeguard training courses offered

The Ontario Aquatic Center announces a lifeguard training course to be held June 8 through June 12.
This class is for those wishing to be trained as a lifeguard.
The course will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants must be 15 years of age by June 12 and are required to pass a pre-test that will take place at 8 a.m. June 4 at the Ontario Aquatic Center.
The pre-test consists of swimming with a 10-pound brick, a 100-meter freestyle swim, 100-meter breaststroke and 100-meter of either of the two strokes combined.
The swim must be continual and use rhythmic breathing. It is highly recommended that those interested in the course begin swimming to get in shape for the course. The cost for the course is $130.

OHS grapplers raising money
Ontario
The Ontario High School wrestlers are raising money for a team trip that will take place December 2009. The team is currently looking for odd jobs, yard work, cleanup, etc., to do in exchange for a donation to OHS wrestling.
Interested individuals can request one or several boys to work, depending on the job. The suggested rate is $10 per hour, per kid, though the donation amount can be adjusted based on the work they accomplish. The team will be available through the summer and next fall.
