Ontario hardballers get 11 players named on GOL all-league team

Ontario-The votes are in, and the Greater Oregon league’s best players were honored for solid 2009 seasons.
GOL champion Baker received six first-team, a second-team and a honorable mention selections, while second place La Grande chalked up five first-team, a second-team and a honorable mention selections.
Ontario, which finished third in the conference and is still alive in the 4A state playoffs, earned four-first team, four second-team and three honorable mention selections.
Ontario pitcher Riley Horn was a first team pick along with Josh Mejia, who was selected as an infielder. Jake Turner and Chase Fields rounded out the first team for their play in the outfield.
Ontario’s Ricky Navarrete and Carlos Barba were second team picks for their play in the infield, and Greg Raetz was selected for his play at first base. Nico Martinez chalked up second-team honors as an outfielder.
Ontario senior Ryan Alvarado notched an honorable mention bid for his play as a designated hitter, Eddie Lopez was selected as an honorable mention as a utility and senior Victor Machuca was an honorable mention for his play at catcher.
