A memorial service for Elaine Stephens will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth, Idaho.
Elaine passed away Dec. 22, 2008. Elaine was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Safford, Ariz., to Tillie and Orson Foote. She had 12 brothers and sisters.
She met Clyde Stephens, a wild Texan who was there with the CC’s in 1937, and they married that year. They had four children, Glen, Nina, Ivan and Lorie. She worked as a waitress most of her life. Then she managed Circle K stores, including the one that was here in Ontario. Her later years she spent staying and helping out at one or the other of her children’s homes. She was preceded in death by her husband and both sons. She is survived by one sister, Barbara Carns, of Georgia; her daughters, Nina and Ron Cooper, of Alameda, Calif., and Lorie and Dell Scott, and daughter-in- law, Claudette Stephens, all of Ontario; 13 grandkids, 29 great-grandkids and 12 great-great-grandkids.
