Nyssa’s Eldred places fourth at state golf tournament
Ontario girls finish tied for 10th place

Redmond—Nyssa’s J.J. Eldred finished tied for fourth place with a two-day total of 154, at the Oregon state golf tournament, which was played at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks Monday and Tuesday. Teammate Mark Horton tied for 25th with a 167. Eldred shot a 72 on the first day and an 82 on day two of the event.
The Ontario girls golf team finished in a tie for 10th place with a team score of 845, at Eagle Crest Ridge Course in Redmond Monday and Tuesday St. Mary’s won the title with a team score of 660.
“We did not have the showing we wanted,” Ontario head golf coach Scott Helmick said. “But the girls did their best.”
Ontario sophomore Scotti Jo Helmick finished in a tie for 18th place with a two-day score of 184. She shot a 93 in her opening round and a 91 in her second round. Ontario’s Ali Patten carded a 199 and finished tied for 35th, Justine Maede shot a 227 (T70th), Ashley Rock finished with a 235 (78th) and Rachel Corn came in with a 296 (89th).
For the Tiger boys, Dallas Brockett finished in 82nd place with a score of 191, and R.J. Gonzalez placed 86th with a 202. Vale’s Jake Cofield tied for 50th with a two-day score of 180.
