Ontario—Allison Yano made her 2009 debut, and the Ontario Tigers regained their stroke with 10 hits in a 9-3 victory over Columbia in non-league softball action Wednesday at Ore-Ida Regional Sports Complex in Ontario.
“We just told the girls to relax and focus on a plan,” Ontario head coach David Hopper said. “Their pitcher wasn’t fast, but she did a good job and hit her spots. The girls just let the ball travel and hit it hard.”
Playing without two starters, Hopper juggled the lineup with Miranda Bourasa playing second base, Erika Hopper at short stop and Allison Yano at first, and his squad never missed a beat.
“Defensively, we executed really well,” Hopper said. “We had girls playing out of position, and they stepped up and got the job done. It was a great effort tonight.”
Jenny Yano tossed a complete game and picked up the win.
Ontario (4-2 overall) travels to La Grande for Greater Oregon League play on April 11.
Hitting and pitching stats were unavailable as of press time.
