Argus Observer sports staff

Ontario—Sunday, the Treasure Valley Community College baseball team hit the field against Dawson in its final game of the Gentry Ford Classic at Elks Memorial Field in Ontario, and came away with a 10-7 victory.

Chukar pitcher Derek Allen picked up the win  in an inning and two-thirds worth of work where he struck out one and walked none.

TVCC began the contest with two runs in the first inning when John Rohde and Mike Tevlin both touched home plate.

The Chukars added to their lead in the second inning with two more runs.

In the third, Dawson scored a run to bring the score to 4-1, however, in the fourth inning, TVCC added three more runs, two coming off the bat of Matt Comer’s two-run blast, which gave the Chukars a commanding 7-1 advantage.

In the seventh inning, Dawson flexed its muscle, and plated six runs to get back in the game, tied at seven.

Not wanting to be outdone, TVCC ended any hopes of a comeback by Dawson, and, in the eighth inning, the Chukars added three more runs to the scoreboard for the final tally.

TVCC will hit the diamond again at 10 a.m. Friday to open the Holiday Inn Classic against Douglas.

" Amen KJ. You hit it on the head. For a guy that has been at a program for so long, he sure hasn't brought much home. Ontario expects more from their American Legion baseball team than TVCC does from their baseball. "

" It's because he's been there so long, he thinks he's untouchable. I would think if he was such a great coach he would have had offers from 4-year schools. "

" Ontario isn't a dump, and the baseball played at TVCC has been great over the years regardless who you hate.. Get over yourself and leaves us that enjoy baseball alone.. "

" I don't know why he has such a big ego. Baumann is lucky to even have this job. He couldn't coach anywhere else but maybe Babe Ruth. "

" The problem with Baumann is his ego, if that changes so will his win/loses. "

" Not under a rock, just watching the Chuks lose again and again. Ontario doesn't want a winning program I guess. Yes, Ontario is a dump and you know it. "

" CSI is not under .500, and Ontario isn't a dump. There have been many great players at TVCC, but that doesn't have to do with the coaches either. It makes it alot more difficult to get a young man to TVCC now that they are in the NWACC, because the competition may be softer than it was in Region 18. But what do you know? Also, it is nice to see that Joe Momma finally crawled back under his rock. "

" To Joe Momma,

Come on, Momma's boy, tell us YOUR story. You are putting everyone else down from Coach Baumann's coaching style to someone else's grammer. Did you not go to a University yourself? Did Baumann make you ride the bench? Accept the fact that YOU are a below average person. "

" Baumann is one the best pitching coaches u will ever meet. Really hard to surround yourself with quality coaches when the school pays them next to nothing. People at mcdonalds make more than the assistants. Some of those swac schools have budgets in the triple digits. Kinda hard to compete with in my opinion "

who cares wrote on Mar 21, 2009 11:58 PM:

" snow doesn't even have a baseball team by the way. CSI has a losing record. Chuks r in the nwaacc because of money issues not coaching. what recruit actually wants to play in Ontario? id like to see u recruit some big time players to such a dump. wins r great but baumann turns boys into men. Not everyone can play baseball forever. His expectations are much greater than u will ever know. Get real and be a man for a second. "

" You were accepted to BSU. Wow! That's tough! It doesn't seem that you write like a graduate. You seem to ASSume alot. Why don't you go finish school and pass your English 101. Accept the fact Baumann is a below average coach. "

To Joe Mama wrote on Mar 20, 2009 8:34 AM:

" I did not go to college at tvcc, but at bsu. Unlike you I was accepted to a University, not a internet masters program like you "

joe momma wrote on Mar 18, 2009 12:07 PM:

" Did you pass your English courses at TVCC. Maybe you should proof before you submit. You write like a dropout. "

To Joe momma wrote on Mar 18, 2009 7:19 AM:

" Give it up. If they win you cry if they lose you cry. Tvcc does not play in the same league as CSI dixie or snow. Do you have any idea about what is going on. Mr. Baumann must have really gave it to you good ha. I hope he fired you or sleep with you wife. "

" your an idiot, just reguritating what was told to you in previous blogs. Stop already "

joe momma wrote on Mar 16, 2009 5:51 PM:

" Why don't they have some real competition at these tourneys? Why doesn't CSI io Snow or Utah teams come? With all due respect to these teams like Montana, why play each other so many times in one weekend. TVCC used to go to tourneys with several different teams in one tourney. It seems it would be better for the players. Maybe this is how Baumann gives false confidence in these kids. Too bad the NWAACC can't be a part of the NJCAA. These kids will never have a chance to play for a national title. "
