Ontario—Sunday, the Treasure Valley Community College baseball team hit the field against Dawson in its final game of the Gentry Ford Classic at Elks Memorial Field in Ontario, and came away with a 10-7 victory.
Chukar pitcher Derek Allen picked up the win in an inning and two-thirds worth of work where he struck out one and walked none.
TVCC began the contest with two runs in the first inning when John Rohde and Mike Tevlin both touched home plate.
The Chukars added to their lead in the second inning with two more runs.
In the third, Dawson scored a run to bring the score to 4-1, however, in the fourth inning, TVCC added three more runs, two coming off the bat of Matt Comer’s two-run blast, which gave the Chukars a commanding 7-1 advantage.
In the seventh inning, Dawson flexed its muscle, and plated six runs to get back in the game, tied at seven.
Not wanting to be outdone, TVCC ended any hopes of a comeback by Dawson, and, in the eighth inning, the Chukars added three more runs to the scoreboard for the final tally.
TVCC will hit the diamond again at 10 a.m. Friday to open the Holiday Inn Classic against Douglas.
