ONTARIO — Aaron’s is a new furniture store in Ontario offering customers the opportunity to buy items on a lease-purchase arrangement while promising low prices on its inventory of furniture, appliances and electronics.
It is situated at 490 E. Lane.
General Manager Brian Lemons said the store opened in January, taking over the Central Rent to Own store, and is part of a franchise of a business which was started in Atlanta in 1955. The franchise, called Tur, Inc., has 14 stores in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado and now is one in Eastern Oregon. There are also outlets in Nampa and Caldwell.
“We’re more focused on customer ownership,” Lemons said, explaining the difference between his store and a rent-to-own operation.
“We offer competitive prices,” he said, adding shoppers can choose to purchase the clearly priced items outright.
Lemons came to Aaron’s after being a vice president of a boarding school for 10 years, after hearing about it from a friend.
“I liked the mission and service model. It made sense to me,” he said.
Customers can pay off their purchases in as little as 12 months. If a customer loses his/her job and cannot make payment, Aarons will take the item back, Lemons said. But when the person is able to make payments again, the store will put them back on the same payment plan as before if they want.
Service at Aaron’s also means a customer is given a replacement TV or appliance while theirs is getting repaired.
“We always carry brand name products,” Lemons said.
Ontario was chosen for the store’s location because it is in a central location among several towns in the Treasure Valley, and Lemons said he believes the store will grow and do well.
