Treasure Valley hoopsters sweep Blue Mountain

Pendleton—Saturday, the Treasure Valley men’s and women’s basketball teams hit the hardwood in Pendleton against Blue Mountain Community College in Northwest Athletic Association of Community College’s action and TVCC pulled off the sweep.
TVCC men 74
Blue Mountain 73
Four Chukar men logged double-digits in scoring as TVCC had to come from behind in the second half to garner the 74-73 win.
Chukar Manny Lopez led TVCC with 18 points, while Aaron Snooks added 16 to go along with Jacob King’s 14 and Eric Gardzina’s 12 points in the win.
TVCC trailed by four points at the half, 38-34, but came out in the second half outscoring Blue Mountain 40-35 for the win. TVCC shot 46 percent from the field, going 29-63, while sinking 4-of-13 from beyond the arc.
The men are currently 4-11 and will head to Columbia Basin Wednesday.
TVCC women 69
Blue Mountain 57
The TVCC women used a huge second half on its way to the 69-57 win after being deadlocked at 28 through the first half. Hope Williams lit up the Lady Timberwolves for 23 points and teammate Nicole Tolman added 16 in the victory.
The Chukar women weathered six lead changes and five ties on its way to victory as they struggled from the field shooting on 34 percent.
The win moved TVCC to 7-6 on the season and the women will look to improve on that Wednesday at Pasco, Wash. when the take on Columbia Basin at 7 p.m. MST.
