Police arrest two after gas station robbery
Incident occurred Sunday night

Ontario — The Ontario Police Department arrested two Ontario men in connection with the armed robbery of a local gas station at 10 p.m. Sunday.

OPD Capt. Mark Alexander said three individuals entered an Ontario Shell Station, situated at 1320 S.W. Fourth Ave., with a knife and ordered the three gas station employees to the floor.

“They took merchandise, cash, and personal property from the three employees,” Alexander said.

The three then fled in a 1980 Toyota pickup.

Police dispatch was then informed of the robbery and the vehicle was then located on Southwest Fifth Avenue at Southwest Fourth Street. At the time officers discovered the vehicle, only two occupants remained inside.

One of the occupants, later determined to be Juvenal Pineda, 18, fled and was later found hiding on top of a house in the 300 block of Southwest Sixth Avenue. He was apprehended.

The driver of the vehicle, Loren Stewart, 19, was also arrested.

Both were arrested and charged with four counts of robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, burglary in the first degree and three counts of menacing.

Alexander said OPD is currently investigating suspects, one of whom could be the third male who entered the establishment. However, no charges have been made as of yet.

Officers also arrested an Ontario male for a Payette County felony warrant and charged him with furnishing alcohol to a minor at the Holiday Inn Express at 9:20 p.m. Friday.

Jesus Menchaca, 27, was in a room at the hotel when he was arrested for a Payette County probation violation stemming from a dangerous drug charge.

Also in the room with him was a 19-year-old female, who police say Menchaca bought alcohol for. Menchaca was also charged with resisting arrest.

In other public safety news:

OPD is still on the lookout for Nicholas Young, 29, who they believe stole two shotguns and a 7mm rifle from a 2000 Chevy Tahoe on Nov. 29.

The issue here is that a kid has been ruined by the worthless, worthless, worthless parenting ablilty of his mother. Call it harsh, but if my kid grows up to be the same way, I would deserve the same criticism. "

He was when he was attending Payette. I dont think we need to hang the kid, but he does deserve to pay for what he did. Hopefully its not just a slap on the wrist this time. Oh, one more thing for you. Football is not everything, education is quite a bit more valuable. Dont talk smack about Payette because they dont have a perfect football program, they are getting a better education. Anyone can run with a football, not everyone knows how to be smart. "

" Oh please, let it go. I am amazed at the time being wasted by the community on this story. My gosh, you'd think Loren Stewart was in on the Kennedy assassination. How about focusing your collective energies on something of greater impact to this community and something that taxpayers have some say in. We have a president-elect that wants to create a national health care system. A president-elect that has stated the first bill he would sign when he takes office is the Freedom of Choice Act, a bill which will make any form of abortion, at any stage of a pregnancy, legal. A bill that would make it legal when an infant is born alive in a botched partial-birth abortion to be set aside and allowed to die. How can we get so incensed about the death penalty, about punks running amok in the streets, and yet look the other way when infants are being killed? Put your indignation to good use. Fight a battle worth fighting, whether it be against abortion, higher taxes, bail-out bills, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and so on. Leave families with personal troubles alone. It doesn't matter if the Stewarts have it coming to them or not, what happens to Loren has little or no bearing on our lives. What our government is doing to our country does. Get up in arms about something important. Our country needs people who care. Get involved! Please. "

" My nephew is not much different from his stupid Uncle. I probably wasn't graced with all the brains, but had a future in sports and let a lot of people down. The pressures of being an athlete can sometimes lead you down a wrong trail. I know it personally as I too had talent. Every week in the paper and then the let down after it's over. The United States Navy has been good to me, and if I had to do it all over again. I wouldn't have played sports. I would have just worked and been a better citizen. I truly know how Loren feels. He's a good kid with a lot of problems! Most of all our family is hard working and I know that the embarrassment is eating them up. I won't apologize for any of his actions but I am forever sorry for mine. I hope that Loren gets the breaks that I did and that those that condemn him or my family understand that peer pressure and image as well as drugs, parties and being 19 can make you somewhat invincible. I know first hand as I have always felt like I let the community down and I escaped to the Navy. After 22 years, in the Navy I have realized that Loren has a lot in common with me. I pray that he isn't sentenced as a felony and that he just like his Uncle before will find his niche'. I would like to thank the people of the community that also defended my family name, as we are not bad people, but are also not beyond making mistakes.
Very Respectfully,

I don't think it's fair to say that the school failed him. His parents thought they were doing what's best for him, but they have enabled and encouraged him in all the wrong directions. And neither parent was a terrific example of self-management. I think boot camp is a great idea. It may save his life. "

Everyone judges from what you hear you dont know the facts. And for the one who says he didnt earn his h.s diploma is crazy! He didnt have it easy at OHS he was the star football player he was to do everything he could to be a pro. He was not favored by the teachers, sorry dont know where you got your information. Then seriously who is talking about his mom? Do you know her or Lorens family? This is really depressing to me... Lorens parents were some of the strictest parents i knew ya he went out with his friends but grades, curfew, and rules were set. For the parents that are talking bad, slanging his parents i really hope it doesnt bite you in the butt. And what you all only have anything to say about Loren not Juvie or the other east sider? Ya well thats probably smart of you guys. Ya he hung with them but never was he jumped in, leave him alone, and the other ones. Everyone makes mistakes all of you need a life. Wait till the judge passes judgemnet. They will go to jail but screw the idea of boot camp trust me that doesnt do anything for kids that grow up around here. I know. I am pretty sure it wasn't his teachers, though. If you can believe any part at all of the teacher and student comments, then it was the damned Ontario School administration who enabled this waste of space. What did the principal do when the teacher complained of Loren's behavior? It sounds like he knuckled under to the litigious mother.

" I am so glad I live in a town of perfect parents and perfect children. I'm convinced that if we looked through a microscope at the families of these judgmental vultures they would all make the front page as Parents of the Year. Then we could blog about how wonderful they are and how their children have never done anything wrong and how we all wish we could be just like them.

But there are no perfect parents or perfect children. You sit in front of your computer thinking, "At least my kid isn't THAT bad. At least my kid hasn't done anything like THAT." Well, good for you. But I'd be very careful about taking all the credit for that, or assuming it will continue. Kids have their own personalities and some, it seems, have to learn everything the hard way. Sometimes kids get off course regardless of how good a parent we may be. But I guess you don't know anything about that because all of your kids have been such a joy to everyone who has ever come in contact with them in their entire lives, and it's all because you're such a fabulous parent.

No one says, "I'm going to raise my kid to be a jerk or a criminal." We all do the best we can and the best we know how as parents, but we are also a product of our own upbringing and life experiences. All parents defend their children sometimes when they may not deserve it and have blinders on regarding their behavior. So you "know" them because of high school football. Four years or less out of someone's life and you're an expert. You have no idea what has gone on in their lives. None of you has the right to pass judgment on someone else when you've never walked in their shoes. You think you can go to a football game, overhear part of a conversation, or learn third-hand some adolescent gossip and now you know all about these people. How many of you would like to hear what your peers, co-workers, classmates, neighbors and village idiots think about you? What if everyone could anonymously write in and tell just exactly what they think about your parenting skills, your personality, your children or grandchildren, your choices, and your decisions - and they would have the opportunity to do that during one of the worst times in your life. Kick 'em while they're down.

And because you have deemed the Stewarts to be such terrible people (because you know them SO well), they deserve ALL the pain they are in right now. In fact, they deserve more. They deserve every ugly, spiteful, pathetic word of criticism and condemnation you can come up with - without using your real name, of course. I mean, they're bad parents, right? They didn't do it the way you you thought they should. As a parent around here - or a child - you apparently only get one chance. You screw up and you're out of here. No mercy, no redemption, no chance to learn, improve or change. Plus, we're going to spit on you on the way out.

The kid has messed up. He's made some bad choices and has some real issues he'll have to face. But you're saying it would make you feel really good if at 19 he suffered unspeakable horrors and his life would essentially be over? All because he was mean to you or you didn't like his mom? Spineless backstabbing people like you scare me a whole lot more than the Stewarts do.

But I guess you don't have to worry about that because you're perfect, and your kids are perfect. What a great town. "

" First, I will say that all of the bashing listed below is right on from my experience and from those I have spoken with for the last several years.

Second, I would like to add to it. One of his fellow members of the track team told me that a coach kicked him off the team. The student said he was a huge slacker and super lazy. He assumed that he would be handed everything he wanted because of his football prowess. Now, this may or may not be true and I don't know who the track coach was or even how to find out, but it sounds plausible.

Next I want to spread rumors. Loren was busted for Meth and Marijuana a short time ago. Then he continues to go on and on about his gang connections. So, let's see:
1. Huge Ego - Check
1a. Stupid - Check
2. Gang connections - Check
2a. Stupid - Check Check
3. Drug addictions - Check
3a. Stupid -Check Check Check
4. Armed robbery - Check
4a. Stupid - Check Mate

Well my friend Sherlock tells me that these things point to huge drug debt and the only way for him to pay it was to steal the money. Of course he chose to rob the place that just fired him. Did I mention he is STUPID!!!

I would like to end with a personal annecdote.

I attended the playoff game against Sisters in 2007. As everyone said and should still say "It was one of the greatest games I have ever seen played." Both teams deserved credit for the win and it was a shame one team had to loose. I walked onto the field amongst our Tiger players and congratulated them for a great year and a very hard fought game. I saw a great number of tears on faces of young men who had given their all. I was moved by how much emotion they were showing. I did see Loren and thought to myself that maybe, just maybe he would learn something from that experience.

I was wrong. But that is what life is about really. Doing something or thinking something or trying something new, only to find out that you were going about it the wrong way. We then must apply ourselves to finding out why we were wrong and how to do or make it right. That last process is called maturity. It takes patience to mature, and it cannot be bought and canot be given to you by your mommy. And it is one of those things that you will NEVER receive if you demand it. You must work your butt off to mature and accept your lumps and bumbs along the way.

This is the sad story about a young man who was told by his parents that only what you get away with matters. He was not held accountable for his misbehaviors. His teachers had no recourse with him. His teammates could not make him see the benefits of hard work. His greatest football loss couldn't wake him up. Maybe a long stay in prison will change him for the better. But, I have my doubts now. I was wrong about him in the past and my maturity allows me to say that he may never change. "

They do not deserve this type of drama nor your pathetic attempts at making yourselves feel better. Facts are...YOU DON'T KNOW THE FACTS about this situation! Let the family do what is right for their son and their family. You would definitely expect the same. God forbid any of YOU ever have any unfortunate situation come to any of your loved ones. Keep your email and your hate mail blogging out of a public forum. THis hate mail thing has got to stop. It is perpetuating gossip and worse. Hate mail via bloggin should be against the law....each of you should be responsible for your purposely careless, hurtful words. You are using a public forum as a way to strike out to a person whom you have convicted before even the judge or law has had any say. I think each of you hate mongers should be held liable for your words in this column. You are guilty and should be charged with abuse and hate crimes to your fellow man. Furthermore, you should have to sign who you are. Be accountable for your actions and words. Frank A. "

" I beg to differ with whoever is posting as Loren. I did know him, and all the details and everything that has been written so far is absolutely true! He was arrogant, self centered, spoiled and lazy. He thought the sun rose and set with him, and his dear sweet mother helped him with that image. Nothing he did was ever his fault, and she ran to his aid every time he stumbled. I for one was hoping reality would walk up and smack him in the face before he stole his diploma so that he would wake up and smell the coffee. After all his bluster and bragging about how wonderful he was, it was great to see that none of the big schools wanted him. I am thrilled that he is finally seeing some consequences of his actions. "

" All the posters know him enough to post by the way he has lived his life and treated people. It is a parents job to stand behind there children, but it is also the parents job to hold the children responsible when they have done something wrong. That is the problem here. He has never been held accountable by his parents, in fact they would always be the first to bully there way around to get him out of any trouble. And, you are right people make mistakes and Loren has never once learned anything from his or he would not be in this situation. "

" I personally played and blocked for Loren helping him win player of the week and he bashed me and my fellow team mates as quickly as he left Payette, where he would stay in the back of the pack during conditioning never once trying to make his fellow team mates better.I agree he had fast feet but could not hit a hole to save his life. It is a shame that he let what god given talent he had go to waste by making poor decisions, trying to be Mister gangster-gangster and we'll see how gangster-gangster he is while in prison, but I do wish good things for him in the future either he'll get worse or better from this experience, I hope the latter Maybe this will help him. "

" You all write like adults but you sound like very immature people. You dont even know the facts or Loren very well..we all make mistakes and im sure he's feeling guilty, which make some of the things you people say un-called for. And if it were my kid i would totally 100% be behind him no matter what. You learn from your mistakes! "

Karma wrote on Jan 7, 2009 3:46 PM:

" Well, well well Mr. Perfect, Mr. Fabulous, Mr. Football-frickin' legend. That boy, and mentally he is a "boy", treated people like crap. No one was immune...he used and disgarded and made fun of and used and bullied and used and abused and tortured and marginalized and used and stole...(you get the picture)anyone he could - and the sick part is that he got away with it. Other writers are right. His mommy-dearest came to his aid and did nothing but defend and lie like a rug. What a great influence in her. He had a full gig and a good one at SOU (the only place that would take him) where he told the coaches to take their college and their money and shove it. He apparently was lucky that not many people watched the shrine game in Baker. He acted so badly, so immaturely that he was kicked out of the game. Why was he even there? He was no one. There were lifelong Ontario kids out on the field with him that put their heart and soul into the team and they were overlooked for a no good shortimer with fast feet.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Karma is alive and well in Ontario and I've never been more pleased about it. He deserves absolutely everything he gets. Loren Stewart is guilty of way more than he'll EVER be charged with. "

Julie wrote on Jan 7, 2009 8:07 AM:

" Well, all I can tell you is that Loren Stewart felt the world ws his for the taking, simply because he could carry a football. His parents pressured the school to enable him him get away with doing nothing and being rewarded for it to the point that he believed he could do whatever he wanted without having any consequences. That attitude is what kept himout of UCLA, BSU or any college with standards. It also explains why he was "in the wrong place at the wrong time". He acted as if it was cool to associate with gang affiliated students at OHS. They even had a street name for him. Well, Loren, looks like you'll get your wish. You'll be behind bars with the rest of your homies. "

" To: wow

Even though we are all human and make mistakes including our officers, I highly doubt that he is "innocent" by any means, but he'll get his day in court and he'll take a plea like they all do, because rarely is the wrong man arrested because from my understanding it usually takes a good amount of evidence to prosicute someone for a crime. Sure, he might not be as involved as stated, but regardless he was there and involved in some way, and that makes him just as guilty as the rest of them.

IMO,if you commit a crime with your buddy, you both should be help responsible for anything that happens during the time frame that you were working together to commit the crime. Once you seperate and go your own ways, then you are only help accountable for your own actions at that time. but in the same room, throwing the same people down to the ground, if someone was to get hurt or killed, all 3 should be prosecuted for it. "

Those boys would have been in for a surprise if me or many others in this area were in the store at that time that have a concealed weapons permit, unless their little blade had a bullet proof vest attached to it.

And who hides on top of a house?! lol I mean seriously, not saying I could out smart the cops or would even try, but I could of found a better spot than on top of a house, lol. "
