Ontario — The Ontario Police Department arrested six people officers believe to be linked to area gangs after an assault triggered during a birthday party left one partygoer injured.
OPD Capt. Mark Alexander said OPD officers, as well as the Oregon State Police and Malheur County Sheriff’s Office arrived at 1:10 a.m. Sunday at an apartment complex situated at 675 N.W. First St.
Alexander said six individuals forced their way into the residence and assaulted a 26-year-old Ontario man who lived there. Alexander said a piece of wood and a knife were used in the attack, which also injured a 19-year-old Ontario man.
The 26-year-old was taken to Holy Rosary Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Alexander said. Officers arrested Rogue Martinez, 22, Caldwell, for assault in the second degree and burglary in the first degree, Alfredo Diaz, 19, Ontario, Adan Gonzalez, 20, Ontario, David Rodriguez, 39, California Alejandro Sierra, 19, Weiser, and Jesus Solorio, 19, Ontario. Diaz, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Sierra and Solorio were all arrested for conspiracy to commit assault in the second degree and burglary in the first degree.
Alexander said OPD requested the assistance from other agencies to control the scene, which he said contained at least 20 people. He also said the incident appeared to be retaliation for other incidents. He said interviews with people at the scene and from the six individuals led him to believe they were gang members.
OPD is also investigating an attempted fondling of a 15-year-old girl in southwest Ontario Friday.
Alexander said the girl was walking in an alleyway in the 200 block of Southwest First Street and Southwest Second Street when a white male in his twenties pushed her against a wall and attempted to fondle her upper body. Alexander said she was able to push him away and flee the scene. Alexander said the victim described her assailant as wearing a black sweatshirt, light blue pants and smelling heavily of alcohol. OPD would appreciate any information anyone may have in his case.

NOTHING is going to happen around here though until something as extreme as an innocent childs life is lost to a gang war. Only then will anything be done about the current situation, and everyone will be left wondering..."why wasn't something done about this sooner?" "
