Mary Davis Fairman Anderson, 84, formerly of Weiser, passed away at a Boise care center on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, surrounded by family.
Mary was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Salmon, Idaho, to Charles and Ruth Davis. She was later adopted at the age of 4 years old by Selma and Jack Fairman of Harper, Ore. Mary had five siblings, John, Virginia, Charlotte, Helen and Guy. Mary graduated from Ontario High School in 1941 at the age of 17. She married her high school sweetheart, Verne E. Anderson, on Oct. 23, 1941, and they remained married until his death on June 4, 2001. Together, they raised three children, spoiled eight grandchildren and cherished 15 great-grandchildren.
We will remember Mom and Grandma most for her fun spirit and sense of humor in the good times and her strength and resilience in the bad times.
She taught us how to laugh at ourselves, help others (whether they wanted it or not) and love each other as much as possible. Mary loved to dance, play bingo, walk with her friend Bonnie and play cards. She loved working in her yard, going to Jackpot and watching the Boise State Broncos. She loved many things, but, most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her three children, Richard (Nancy) Anderson, of Baker City, Ore., Gail (Clint) Schnider, of Weiser, and Lorry (Karl) Peck, of Boise. She is also survived by her “beautiful grandchildren and adorable great-grandchildren.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne; her five siblings and in-laws and her birth and adoptive parents.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff in the “neighborhood” at The Seasons Assisted Living in Boise and all the staff at Care First Hospice. Your service and care have been greatly appreciated by the family. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Homes.
... And in the famous words of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, “Nuff said.”
