Ontario wrestling ready for ‘Run to the Butte’

Ontario’s Nico Martinez (front) smiles for the camera during his 125-pound consolation match with teammate Michael  Gonzalez last year in the OSAA state wrestling tournament in Portland.

The wrestling team is sponsoring the 4th Annual “Run to the Butte” Sunday, Nov. 30th at 2 pm.

The cost of the run is $20 for adults and $10 for students. The run begin at the Ontario Golf Course and ends at the Malheur Butte. It is approximately 5.8 miles. Every person who pays and finishes gets a T-shirt that says “I ran to the Butte”.

To pre-register, e-mail assistant coach Dave Parsons at dparsons@ontario.k12.or.us, or head coach Charlie Anthony at canthony@ontario.k12 or.us, or call Ontario High School at (541) 889-5309 and ask for either person.

You can also register on the day of the event at the Ontario Golf Course, where registration starts at 1:15.

This event, which Parsons said is a non-competitive run, just a run for family, friends and community members, is open to anyone who is old enough and fit enough to run nearly six miles.
