FRUITLAND — Roady’s Truck Stop, D&S Factors and Internet Truckstop are recruiting for current and future positions in a number of different areas at a hiring expo today in Fruitland.
The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the D&S Factors building, 6905 U.S. Highway 95, Fruitland, between city limits and Palisades Junction. According to a press release, Roady’s, New Plymouth, Internet Truckstop, New Plymouth, and D&S Factors, Fruitland, have opportunities in sales, marketing, customer service, software development, programming, graphic art and Web design. Jeannette Mayer, spokeswoman for the event, said the three businesses are hosting the expo because each has a need for those type of positions.
She said the job openings are partly the result of a desired expansion.
“We are trying to expand, but not a lot,” Mayer said. “It’s extremely controlled growth.”
She said the job fair is intended for the businesses to determine how much interest there is in the positions and what the job force in the area looks like.
“We have several positions that we’re looking for,” she said, but would not say how many positions comprised “several.”
Mayer also said, the businesses were trying to guage potential applicants for future positions but did not say when those positions would become available or what they would entail.
She said anybody who has a background in technology and is good with computers and telephone skills should attend. Interested applicants should bring a resume, Mayer said, and will be able to fill out applications at the event.
Mayer said the businesses will hire as needed, but would not discuss why the positions are necessary as related to the expansion and what that expansion entails.
Each business is geared toward the transportation sector. According to the press release, Roady’s has more than 400 truck stops in 45 states. Internet Truckstop is the largest freight matching service on the Internet; and D&S Factors provides a form of accounts-receivable financing to the trucking industry.
