VALE — The Malheur County’s Clerk’s office will be conducting a hand recount of the Nyssa and Jordan Valley city council races, start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday as the result of close races at the end of official ballot tabulations Monday.
In the Nyssa race, Mary Shelton led by one, 339 to 338, over Kathy Flanders at the end of tabulating election night.
After the tabulation of challenged ballots — those with questioned signatures or addresses and other issues — Monday, Flanders led Shelton by one vote 341 to 340, requiring an automatic recount.
The Jordan Valley council races where no one filed for a seat, none of the write-ins received more than three votes, with some getting two and most receiving just one.
