Mildred Haney

Nov. 4, 1921 - Nov. 4, 2008

Nampa

Mildred Haney passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at her home at Karcher Estates in Nampa. Mildred was born at home on Nov. 4, 1921, in Kuna, Idaho, to Albert Lawson and Arlene Hale Lawson.

Mildred graduated as valedictorian of Kuna High School’s class of 1938. She went on to attend business school in Boise and, after graduation, began work at the Federal Land Bank.

Mildred married Marvin L. Haney on Jan.10, 1943, in Boise. They became parents to four children, who were the joy of their lives. Mildred helped with the family business and raised her children. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and a 4-H leader.

In 1965, Mildred returned to work in the Fresh Produce Department of the J.R. Simplot Company. She reached the position of sales manager and was one of the few women in her industry to do so. She retired from Simplot in 1986.

Mildred loved playing the piano, reading and was an active member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church until her health deteriorated.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Haney, her parents, a brother and a sister.

She is survived by her four children, Roy Haney, of Boise, Nancy (Chuck) Laughlin, of Caldwell, Eileen (Dave) Hixson, of Nyssa, Ore., and Ron (Denisse) Haney, of Ridgefield, Wash.; and by three brothers, Jack (Lozene) Lawson, of Boise, Carl (Betty) Lawson, of Washington, D.C., and Stanley (Shirley) Lawson, of Texas.

In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, Mike Haney, Matt Haney, Patrick Haney, Margo Haney, Shannon Laughlin, Shaun Laughlin, Rich Heisler, Heather Hert, Crystal Hert, Amy Jo Green, and by nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Caldwell United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, 824 E. Logan St., Caldwell, ID 83605. Private burial will precede the services at Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, 504 S. Kimball Ave., Caldwell, ID 83605, (208) 459-3629. Condolences may be sent to the family’s online guestbook at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.
