Ranchers try to resolve Ore. feedlot-union
dispute
BOARDMAN (AP) — Ranchers trying to resolve a dispute between a Boardman feedlot and the United Farm Workers Union say they’ll hold an election next month on union representation.
The Beef Northwest Feedlot and the union have been disputing for more than a year whether the company should bargain with the union based on cards that feedlot workers have signed or whether a secret ballot election should be held.

Idaho airport gets new explosive screening
device
IDAHO FALLS (AP) — The Idaho Falls Regional Airport has a new baggage-screening system that officials say will speed up travel and increase passenger privacy.
The explosives detection system scans closed baggage for potentially dangerous items. It replaces the current system, which requires Transportation Security Administration screeners to open each checked bag and swab the contents. The $300,000 device was paid for by the TSA.
Former substitute teacher charged with sex crimes
TWIN FALLS (AP) — A former Twin Falls School District substitute teacher and volunteer volleyball coach has been charged with sexual abuse of a minor.
Twenty-two-year-old William Arthur Stevens was charged with two counts of felony sex abuse of a child under 16, four counts of felony lewd conduct with a minor under 16, and misdemeanor distribution of obscene material
Stevens is accused of abusing a 15-year-old boy in September at an RV park in Twin Falls.
Idaho man honored for heroic actions
IDAHO FALLS (AP) — The Idaho State Police is honoring a Ucon man for his heroic actions during an August car crash.
The crash happened when Kristin Shaw from Toole, Utah drifted off of Interstate 15 and struck a guardrail head on. Her car burst into flames, but Ucon resident Tracy Dursteler entered the vehicle, climbed into the backseat, unbuckled Shaw and pulled her from the car.
