The family of Hideo Takahashi is sad to announce his death on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, in San Francisco at the age of 91, in the care of his nephew and niece.
He leaves behind his two younger sisters, Aiko Okamoto and Takako (Nobi) Ishida, and numerous nieces and nephews to fondly keep his memory alive.
Hideo was a member of the WWII, 100th/442nd RCT: “Go for Broke” I - Company. He was a hero with a quiet and gentle spirit. He was a retired postal worker, and he enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, tennis and the occasional trip to Jackpot, Nev., Reno, Nev., and Las Vegas.
We would like to thank Terry and Karen McGuiness and Jeff and Lois Saito for their help through the years. Words cannot express our gratitude to Margie Yasuda for the love and kindness that she showed Hideo, for the meals that she delivered everyday while he was in Ontario recovering from surgery and the years of friendship that she and George shared with him.
There will be no funeral by request. If you desire, donations in his memory may be made to: The 100th/442nd RCT, National Education Center, P.O. Box 2590, Gardena, CA 90247; the Four Rivers Cultural Center, Ontario, Ore.; and the Buddhist Temple, Ontario, Ore.
