Valuable brainstorming

The City of Ontario is taking all the right steps regarding a proposed downtown revitalization plan.

Thursday, city leaders held another downtown revitalization session at Four Rivers Cultural Center.

The sessions are designed to generate dialogue regarding methods to improve the downtown area and discover good ideas about linking the important downtown core with schools and Ontario neighborhoods.

Experts working with the city on downtown revitalization issues — such as traffic plans, residents and officials were on hand for the FRCC session.

While residents should not expect any groundbreaking solutions from meetings such as Thursday’s, the important point is the city is reaching out to the community in an effort to improve downtown.

That kind of interaction between residents and officials is invaluable and sends the loud and clear message the city wants the community — including merchants — to be an active partner in the effort to improve downtown.

Only through this type of cooperation can  endeavors, such as a downtown revitalization, be accomplished.

The workshop session on the downtown revitalization concept is good and helps not only city leaders but residents as well.
