Fruitland pounds McCall in SRV action
Crim, Varriale and Macfarlane score two TDs each in 39-2 win

McCall—Fruitland’s Caleb Crim and Nick Varriale both rushed for 108 yards, and the Grizzly defense denied McCall access to the end zone as Fruitland pounded the Vandals 39-2 to open Snake River Valley Conference play Friday in McCall.

Varriale,Tommy Macfarlane and Crim each scored two touchdowns in the win.

Fruitland scored six points in the opening quarter, then added eight more in the second for a 14-2 lead at the break.

It was the third quarter when the Griz did their damage.

Crim added to the scoreboard on a 3-yard bolt, and Tyson Flannery kicked the extra point to give Fruitland a 21-2 lead with 7:13 to play in the the third frame.

Crim added his second score of the game at the 6:41 mark with aa 20-yard scamper, the point after failed, but the Griz led 27-2.

Next it was Macfarlane getting to paydirt with a 4-yard jaunt, the PAT failed but the Grizzlies were up 33-2.

Finally Varriale picked up the final score of the game at the 2:09 mark of the third with a short 3-yard burst giving Fruitland it final lead at 39-2.

McCall struggled on both sides of the football as its defense gave up 290 yards to the Grizzlies and on offense the Vandals found themselves going in the wrong direction with negitive 52 total yards of offense.

Fruitland (4-0 overall, 1-0 conference) will travel to Baker City who is coming off a 62-0 throttling over Burns.

McCall (0-3 overall, 0-1 conference) will host the Payette Pirates (3-2 overall, 1-0 conference) who are coming off an upset 20-19 win over Weiser (3-2 overall, 0-1 conference).
