Jenny Hand, 56, Ontario, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at a Boise hospital. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday Sept. 25, 2008, with a Mass of the resurrection to follow at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Ontario. Jenny was born Nov. 9, 1951, in Ontario. She is the second child of Jake and Dorothy Elfering. She was raised in Vale and graduated from Vale Union High School in 1969.
In 1971, she married Rick Debban, and from that union came her two daughters, Brenda and Kelli. She later married Jim Hand in November 1983. They began their life together in Gilchrist, Ore., where the girls attended school and Jim was an Oregon state trooper. Here they made many lasting friendships and memories. Their years spent there were among the ones that she cherished the most. This is also where she found and expanded her talents for crafts and painting.
In 1991, Jim and Jenny returned to her home in Vale, where they took over the OLCC agency from Jenny’s Aunt Goldia Elfering.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Parks and Kelli McElroy; parents, Jake and Dorothy Elfering; sisters, Diana (Bruce) Spelman and Lynne Ramos; three grandchildren, Dayne and Jordan Parks and Weston McElroy; six nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hand; brother, Mike Elfering; brother in-law, Tony Ramos; and special friend Darrell Merritt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Jenny’s name at any Well Fargo Bank. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.Lienkaemper-
